Social Care Induction Training

At Openstorytellers, we can help you to have more effective working relationships with your clients with additional needs. Our social care induction training ensures that you are:-

  • Helping people to feel valued and included in everyday decisions
  • Giving people the support they need to say what they want
  • Taking the time to listen to your clients and respond appropriately
  • Supporting friendships and building relationships within the workplace
  • Sharing memories

Some people can do this easily and others need help to do this. Through our social care induction training, we can help you to be an even better carer for your clients.

Our Learning from My Story training is delivered by our trainers with learning disabilities and focuses on their personal story, their challenges, their ambitions and their achievements. They tell you in their own words what living with a learning disability means to them and the support they need.

We have been delivering ‘Learning from My Story’ training as part of Somerset County Council’s induction programme for new social care staff since 2013.

“How to get insight into the life of a service user from their own perspective, when they tell us about their life and their feelings: this was achieved. I was very moved and taken aback at the same time.”

Feedback from a delegate on the Learning from my Story training we run for Somerset County Council.
