Pigeon Productions is OpenStoryTellers' creative enterprise made up of a team of talented artists, illustrators, storytellers, poets, animators, musicians, easy read specialists and more.

We make information easy to understand with you and your organisation, through accessible films and products.

What makes us unique?

Well, some of us have learning disabilities and/or autism and together we work as a multi-skilled team of creators.

We produce informative, exciting and challenging work, which lots of people can see, hear and understand.

We tell stories about our world and the rights of people with learning disabilities and autism.

We use film, music, words and art to share our experiences and celebrate what we have achieved.

'This Is Me' - by Pigeon Productions

Our 2021 series of short films celebrates the lives of 4 people who have a learning disability and live in Somerset, told in their own words. These stories are positive, moving and inspirational. They look into the challenges of life alongside personal achievements. Each story is different and comes with a powerful message about equality and diversity.

Pigeon Productions was funded by Somerset County Council to produce these films.

Why a Pigeon?

We love pigeons, they are very intelligent and resilient birds, who despite their amazing qualities, live on the outskirts of society and are often seen as a nuisance.

Some of us understand how it feels to be left out, ignored and even bullied. Like the pigeon we can rise above this and communicate our messages to those who will listen or look at our work.

Just as pigeons have been sending messages for years - since776BC - people with learning difficulties have been around for ever and we are going to make sure we are heard too!
