I’m Mike Fletcher, a 46 year old going through a second mid life crisis who spends too much time in the pub getting fatter! So joining forces with my old school friend Jim Harrison we’ve decided to cycle a double century which is a massive challenge and not at all easy for us. We’ve never done this sort of distance before and want to see if we can – telling lots of people you’re going to do it is a big motivator!
Distance: 200 miles / 320km
Assent: 2700m / 8640 ft
Time: 14-16 hours, 840-960 minutes, 50,400-57,600 seconds
Energy: 8400 calories / 30 mars bars / 46 bags of crisps / 47 pints of beer
Heart beats: 121,000
Pedal revolutions: 67,000
The 200 mile route is from East Knoyle, Wiltshire (my house) to Siddington, Cheshire (Jim’s house) – same distance as London to Leeds!
We’re doing this in the middle of summer to get plenty of day light as we will need it! We’re starting at ten minutes after the sunrises at 04.50 which gives us 16.5 hours of daylight…
Wish us luck and thanks again for your support – it means a lot to us. You can make a donation through our Charity Giving page.
Update: Mike and Jim successfully cycled their 200 miles and our photo above shows them proudly showing off their sat navs with the mileage logged. 202 miles in 15.5hrs, 5am – 8.30pm including stops – 14.5hrs of cycling! Wow!
We are still totting up the donations but at the moment the guys have raised over £1675! Thank you so much to everyone who supported Mike and Jim. There’s still time to donate at Charity Giving
