On the 5th of May Openstorytellers hosted the Changing Lives Through Storysharing Conference. It was held to celebrate stories of everyday life told by people with severe and profound disabilities. Over the past 3 years more than 100 people and their supporters have been involved in a project funded by the Learning Disability Development Fund, and managed by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities. The day offered opportunities to learn about the approach and to hear from people themselves about their experiences and to discuss how to build a narrative culture in services.
It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by everyone who attended. We had wonderful speakers, Peter Salisbury from BILD and Louisa Whait from Mencap. We even had Maypole dancing!
