Smells of Frome… Create your dream town…Share your story…
A public town planning meeting was held on Tue 26 June, organised by All Join In, an Openstorytellers project run by people in Frome with learning and communication difficulties.
“Planning public spaces, how our town looks, and how it works for the users, needs to be inclusive. And for this group that meant more than just thinking of wheelchair access – it meant a sociable space that offers a welcome, a sensory experience, a thing of beauty and tactile interest. Let’s hope some of this is incorporated into the plans for our new town centre development. That Damian Wood, Director of Frontier Estates and Hugo Fitzgerald, architect from BroadwayMalyan, were willing to come and listen tonight was a promising sign.”
The group is funded by Somerset skills and learning, Vista and the British Council Active Citizens project, and is run through Openstorytellers. Openstorytellers help people have a voice: to be heard, understood and to broaden the opportunities available to them – to have choices.
