What we offer
At Openstorytellers, we offer a popular range of bespoke training packages to other organisations, professionals, schools and service providers to ensure that staff can listen and communicate with clients with different needs.
Our training sessions always involve opportunities for reflection, discussion, and experience sharing. We will always consult with you to establish your aims and what skills you’d like to build so that we can provide the right training for you and your staff.
Our delivery styles can also be tailored to your requirements; we offer a range of approaches, from hands-on workshops to more formal learning and presentations. We can also provide consultations on our wide experience of working with communication and narrative if you prefer.
Why our training is different
Our training is different for two reasons.
Firstly, our trainers have first-hand experience on delivering services and projects with people from all age groups and with all kinds of learning disabilities, which supports their understanding and knowledge on the importance of inclusivity.
Secondly, wherever possible, we co-deliver our training with an expert by lived experience: one of our specially trained team of tutors with learning disabilities. After all, it is their voice that is most important.
What you will gain from our training
We will always consult with you to make sure we meet your requirements on what and how we deliver.
We offer structured, progressive training based on experience which is delivered with a solid understanding of current theories on good practice and how this sits in relation to your organisation or service.
We promise you high quality, practical programmes that will significantly contribute to the development of your workforce, team or organisation.
Training packages we offer
Through Storysharing®, we help people tell everyday stories through different techniques so they can confidently express themselves. We train staff to work on communication skills and explore multisensory techniques to help people with learning disabilities express themselves, and tell their own stories – particularly useful at annual reviews.
